Description/Objectives:

This course is created by a nurse for nurses. The premise of this webinar is that all of us have experienced some trauma; as clinicians, as well as our patients and their families. To that end, it is important for us to hold space and understand that this is a shared experience. How we show up and engage is critically important for the patient/clinician relationship.

• Define trauma, its prevalence, signs, characteristics, and impact on patients and clinicians

• Evaluate one's own trauma and the role this may play in clinical care

• Identify key components of a trauma aware care approach and its application in the perinatal and neonatal settings

• Learn effective strategies to manage shared trauma
